Every month HP offers instant rebates on various models, so as an HP Partner we always try to educate our customers & prospective clients on the best times to purchase to get the best deals (visit our promotions page). There is nothing worse than buying something, only to find out a week later that it went on sale and you could have saved 25%!
This month we’re highlighting the HP LJ M402 series as HP is offering a $100 instant rebate until the end of May – this is the lowest-end B&W HP printer that we can repair on site, which is one of the reasons why we do not recommend getting any model below this (i.e. any HP printer model that starts with an “M1” or an “M2”). If your HP printer is too low end to be repaired on site, and it is still under warranty, the only alternative is to call HP support directly (and we all know how much fun calling a large bureaucracy can be!), and you’ll go through the following steps:
- You’ll have to spend time with a phone support agent who will walk you through various attempts to fix the printer on your own.
- If none of those work, and your printer is still under warranty, they will send you a replacement product which will take a couple of days to receive, and then you will have to box up and send the broken printer back.
If your printer is NOT under warranty, then you’re out of luck. You have no recourse and you need to purchase a new printer.
Why spend all that time when for just a little bit more money, you can purchase an HP printer that an A M Exclusive technician repair onsite within 8 business hours?
Not only that, but the toner cartridges for the “less expensive” models do not last as long, so if you are printing a decent amount you can end up paying more money in the long run [Download our Total Cost of Ownership Worksheet for more clarification]
So the M402 series printer is your best bet for that end-user who needs a printer at their desk, but that is also easily supportable if an issue arises. We recommend this model for printing up to 999 pages per month – if you need to print more you’re going to want to go the next step up to the M506 series, otherwise you’ll end up spending more over the life of the printer. We have put together a guide on how to choose the best printer/copier/mfp for your office, which will detail for you everything you should consider in order to make the most cost effective choices.
Finally, if you purchase the “dw” version of the model (d = duplex = automatic two-sided printing, w = wireless), you are eligible for an additional $50 rebate when trading in an older printer until April 30th. For full details visit our promotions page: https://www.amexclusive.com/laser-promotions
